KICKING BEAR MINISTRY
The Mission: Put a bow in a kid's hand and lead their family to the Lord--one-on-one.
The Kicking Bear Ministry is a nationwide faith-based, non-denominational youth program founded by Ray Howell in 2000. The Kicking Bear Ministry impacts the youth of tomorrow by giving them opportunities to enjoy God's creation, while experiencing fun outdoor activities such as archery, and to make new friends.
Please visit the national website, kickingbear.org, for more information on Ray Howell, Kicking Bear's Statement of Faith, and more.
KICKING BEAR KANSAS CAMP
The Kansas camp began after members of the United Methodist Church in Medicine Lodge hosted a God's Great Outdoorsevent. Ray Howell was involved with that, and interest grew in attending a Kicking Bear Camp in Missouri. These families had a great time, learned a little something, and noted that we are blessed with the local resources to host a Kicking Bear camp. The first Kicking Bear Kansas camp was held in 2013. Ray has become a friend of the community, and a familiar face to the kids involved. The camp is hosted by the Gant-Larson Ranch, whose facilities are perhaps better known due to their "Gyp Hills Trail Rides". Several community churches provide food and monetary donations, and many volunteers from the community work hard to organize, prepare the grounds, gather firewood, haul the 3D targets, plan activities and crafts, cook, serve, and clean up.
